Massimo Vitali

Massimo Vitali's photographs remind me a lot of Christian Chaize's work. Again, I like the bright colors of the swimsuits and towels against the neutral sand. Both photographers' work has so much life and a total carefree feel. I like how his work reflects on how people spend their leisure time. It also makes me think of the masses and conformity, with beach towels lined up as far as the eye can see. The scenes are definitely appealing, but are we so desperate for sunshine and leisure time that we subject ourselves to crowds like this?

South Beach

I love this photo of Miami. The lighting is really cool in how you get the essence of the beach and silhouetted palm trees while also getting the feel of the vibrant night life from the neon lit up buildings. I like the colors a lot.

New Thinking

Ceiling molds as wall designs? Yes please. I always enjoy when artists give new life to an object by dreaming up a new use for it. These ceiling molds create a truly interesting wall and their texture adds to the draw.

Plaid

Masculine interior plaids are wonderful. I love their dark colors and east coast, cozy, traditional feel.

Inspiration Boards

Compiling this blog and sketchbook has piqued my interest in inspiration boards and the creative process people follow.

James Nares

James Nares flowing brush stroke paintings are great. I will always love this vivid blue also. The paintings have so much movement and life for how simple they are. Nares' suspension technique for painting is also very fascinating. Artists create their work in the most interesting ways and his work is a great reminder than just because you're painting you don't have to be constrained by conventional brushes and methods.

Party People

I want to go to a party with table landscapes like these! They are so well coordinated with colors and patterns and the details are very fun. I like the grand center pieces and light fixtures. It's just a coincidence that these tables are heavily pink and orange (one of my favorites), but having such a fun color scheme can never hurt.

Be My Guest

I think adult bunk beds are too cool. They are totally unique, cozy, and they seem to encourage camaraderie. I also am really interested in how people design and coordinate guest rooms with two twin beds. Symmetry and balance are clearly key and the results are so fabulous that guests will care less that they have to sleep in such a narrow bed.

Rebel Yell

I love this picture. I'm not condoning adolescent delinquency, but I think it is an incredibly fun depiction of youth rebellion. These kids may be ten but they exude confidence and cool and an undeniable 'tude. This picture makes me want to disregard what others may think and just do what I want and have fun.

Pastel Perfection

This photograph of colorful pastel shutters has many of the same colors as Christian Chaize's beach scenes, and I love them here too. This picture is utterly happy.

Christian Chaize

I love the beach, I love fun pastel colors, and I love interesting photography. Thank you Christian Chaize for combining these into beautiful pictures. Not only are the beach scenes leisurely perfection, but I think the colors of the umbrellas, towels, water, sand, and sky are all wonderful together!

Chinoiserie

I recently discovered Chinoiserie. A combination between kitsch and glamour that is completely fun. I like the exotic nature of it and how it lends itself well to modern adaptations and being very graphic. The color freedom is also very fun.

Look to the Ceiling

Ceilings are the forgotten wall. Architectural elements like wood beams add immense interest and character to rooms. The pattern tiles in this ceiling take the ceiling to a whole new level of beauty. A ceiling like this can really make a room.

Cantaloupe

I'm loving all variations of cantaloupe colors right now. It's such a fresh and inviting color!

Day of the Dead

I am really drawn to the imagery of the skulls from the Day of the Dead celebrations. Skulls can typically be portrayed as scary and morbid, but these skulls are much more of a celebration of life. I like how intricate their designs can be and I especially like when they are done in bright colors.

Another Beautiful Table and View

Watch out Paris. I want to go to this rooftop meal as well. The bright pink flowers are a beautiful contrast to the while wall and furniture. The view is also unbeatable :-)

Creative Space

I really like interesting architectural features in rooms. This desk nook adds a whole element to this bedroom without taking up space. Also, the nook frame is really unique and adds a lot of interest to the room.

Juju Hats

These tribal head dresses are a bit of a design fad at the moment, but I think the trand is well justified. They come in a wide array of bright colors, they have a great visible texture, and they have a nice radial pattern, creating a unique design element that can be used in many ways.
